Do It Right: Rolling Loud Miami 2018

I was hoping the folks over at Rolling Loud would have released the set times by now, but they have yet to do so. With Cardi B stepping down due to her pregnancy and other artists no longer being able to attend, they’re pretty much still finalizing parts of the lineup so I can see why not. But despite that being the case, I’ve decided to go ahead and publish some kind of post about the upcoming hip hop festival.

For those of you that may not be in the loop, Rolling Loud is a 3-day music festival being held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The ensemble is in it’s 4th year and hoping to add another successful show to the record this, May 11th-13th, weekend.

This year, Rolling Loud is headlined by some of the biggest names in not just hip hop, but music today! Artists like J. Cole, Travis Scott, Future, Migos, Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, Tory Lanez, Young Thug and SO many others are set to perform at the Miami festival. Not to mention the new surprise acts they’ve booked for Friday, Saturday AND Sunday that have yet to be revealed! (Keep scrolling for the full lineup)

I, myself, have been to a number of music festivals and shows, so I like to think I know a thing or two about how to do the weekend right. I usually lean heavily on the set times of my must see artists to map out my days, but in the absence of that, I have a number of other must-do activities to make any festival experience the best one yet!

Rain or shine, FOOD is definitely number one (after the music of course) at any festival. All of that walking around and dancing to the beats works up an appetite and you’ve gotta stay energized! I know EVERYTHING in site is most likely going to be over priced, so even if you’re ballin’ on a budget, pick one item or vendor to try each day. Most events have a decent variety of cuisines to choose from that offer super delicious eats. Grabbing a snack also gives you an excuse to find a seat and give those dancing feet a rest.

After you and the gang have fueled up and powered through a few more sets, head over to the Vendor Village and see what’s going on there. You’ll find merch tents, the “convenience store”, and a number of other places to pick up souvenirs and necessities from. Cause if you don’t get merch, did you even go? This is also a good in case of emergency meet up spot, juuuust in case you get separated from squad.

I’m not telling you to sneak the loud pack past security or anything, but doesn’t sparking up at the top of the Rolling Loud ferris wheel sound like the right idea? You didn’t get that from me though.

You should, however, check out any carnival rides that they do have. All of those artists that don’t really interest you present the opportunity to have some fun elsewhere. Or if you’re just not big on being in the mosh, have your favorite artists be your ride soundtrack! The lines move quickly so don’t let that discourage you from waiting. Even if you don’t get on the ferris wheel, it makes a killer back drop for that obligatory Instagram weekend recap post.

Another thing to keep in mind is the weather! I live here in Florida, so I know first hand that this heat is not a joke. Though there should be some rain scattered throughout parts of the weekend, still remember to wear your sunscreen and dress accordingly. Drink plenty of water this week leading up to Rolling Loud and continue to stay hydrated throughout the weekend. If possible, keep water with you at all times while you’re at the festival. CamelBak’s are allowed so take advantage of that if you can!

Most importantly, be safe and have fun! Remember to stick with your friends and be kind to others. If you see someone that needs help, don’t hesitate to speak up. We’ve all been waiting patiently for this event, so don’t ruin it for yourself or anyone else. Positive vibes, dope music and a mix of the activities I mentioned are the keys to doing Rolling Loud (or any music festival) right!

I’m so excited for the weekend to get here! The Dade in me is SCREAMING for Trick Daddy and Trina. Just imagine the vibe when Juvenile comes out and Cash Money Records starts taking over for the ’99 and the 2000s. I don’t think my boyfriend is ready for the wave of ass I’m about to throw back. HA!

I (along with thousands of other people) spent a lot of good money on these tickets and I know it’s going to be the concert of a lifetime. Three huge stages, an amazing lineup of artists, and a hard working team behind the scenes to make it all happen. I know Rolling Loud Miami 2018 is going to be LIT.
